It's Christmas

For unto a child is born,
unto us a Son is given:
and the government shall be upon his shoulder
And his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor...

Christmas Home Tour Finale

Hello all, today is the grand finale of the Bok Tower Christmas Home Tour (Pinewood Estates).  I know I stated earlier that this would be a 4 part series, but I changed my mind. Lots of pics this time, so let's get started.....

There was lots of prep work involved before the decorating process could take place. I spent several weeks planning and preparing to bring in my rendition of "Out of Africa". As I mentioned in my first post, I had to make curtains, chair covers, and a table runner. I also needed to come up with several creative but budget friendly ideas to give this space the WOW factor. Read on....

These are the curtains, did I mention that sewing is not on my list of favorite things to do. I would rather be tied to an ant bed!!!! lol.  The chair covers and the table runner can be seen later on in the post. Enjoy the pics!

This is one of my creative but budget friendly ideas. All I did was attach the wreath to the picture frame with floral wire.By doing this i…

Christmas Home Tour Bok Tower Gardens 2011 (Part 1)

Hello all, I am excited to bring you this 4 part series on the Christmas Home Tour I participated in last year. (2011)  For the past several years Bok Tower Gardens has opened up the Pinewood Estates Mansion to host their Holiday Home Tour. Last year I was invited to participate in the tour, and I was responsible for designing the dining room. The theme for last year was " Picture Perfect" and designers were asked to pick a movie and decorate a room around that movie. I betcha can't guess in a million years what movie I chose, DRUM ROLL PLEASE! The movie I chose was "Out of Africa".
This is the dining room. It's fairly large and in order to transform it without spending a fortune I had to go into my bag of  design tricks. I had a long list of things that I wanted to accomplish, like hang a chandelier over the table.....
I would also need to make curtains, chair covers and a table runner just to name a few.
The fireplace had to be incorporated…

Christmas Ideas for a Guest Bedroom

Hello all, and happy Monday to you. I had a great day on Thanksgiving spending time with family and friends. I hope you did too. The Christmas season is in full swing, and boy am I excited! This week I have a guest bedroom makeover that will make your holiday guest want to extend their stay. Read on.......  Each year I try to incorporate touches of Christmas in every room. This is how I decorated my orange and brown room and it's been a big hit with my holiday guest. Touches of Christmas were added to the curtains and the curio. Here, bows were used as an inexpensive alternative for tiebacks. This bow used as a tieback is a simple but elegant touch you can use in any room of your home. Be creative it doesn't have to be a bow, you could use ornaments, florals, lollipops, candy canes, or whatever you like. The curio displays one of my favorite ornaments, and gifts that I have been given over the years. It is also used to store towels and much needed items for guest.  Believe it …

Happy Thanksgiving

Have a wonderful day! 2 your home, Lory

A Winter Wonderland

Hello and happy Monday. I know that this week is going to be a very busy week for most of us, because Thanksgiving is just a few days away. And Friday will quick off  the Christmas season and boy am I excited!.....
Today I have a transformation that I think you are going to love.
This is a picture of my office and I can describe it in to words HOT MESS, but take a look at how I transformed it (office) into a Winter Wonderland. ENJOY! The first thing I did was wrapped the door. I enjoy doing this because it's quick and oh so simple. Next, I brought in lots of gold and white fabric and bows. The wreath is several floral sprays that were formed into a circle. The bow was added to cover where the sprays were connected. I love how it turned out. I found this gold and white fabric at Walmart several years ago it is one of my favorite fabrics to use during the Holiday Season.
Can you believe that this cute little angel ornament came form the Dollar Tree? I purchased several of them to b…
