 The day I turned 50!
Since my birthday fell in the middle of the week, I decided to celebrate Wednesday - Sunday. I figured you only turn 50 once so why not go for it. But I had know earthly idea that my family friends and coworkers would play such a huge part in my 50th birthday. Boy, was I in for a treat.
On Wednesday my co-workers surprised me with a cake, balloons and a party hat. On Thursday I got all dolled up and the Hubby treated me to Red Lobster. You like my hat? After exercise class on Friday night Paul (fitness coach) and the ladies treated me to cupcakes, cards and gifts. Sorry no pics.
sorry fuzzy
Mandy Lou picked me up on Saturday for a birthday lunch and girl's day out.
We ate lunch at Bahama Breeze.

  The shrimp and the

salad were delish!
Mandy and I hung out until early evening and when we arrived home I was greeted with this (see the above pic). I was in total shock! My daughter and her Husband had transformed my living room into an intimate setting for the perfect birthday party.

A friend of my daughter's made the beautiful cakes. Not one, not two, but three cakes. Red velvet, Carrot and Caramel Crème Cake. They were so YUMMY! Thanks Ms. Pat!

Thanks for stopping by,

  1. Now that's a birthday celebration that goes on for days. YOU deserve the best my friend. It sure was hard to convince you to stay out as long as we did that day. I said to Sheena, girl I don't know if I can get your mom out like that and all day. I told her I was going to have to take you to either Orlando or Brandon because when your mind is made up, it' made up. When Sheena called me that day and asked to keep you out a few hours more I was like, OMG", how am I going to get that done. It all worked out though. AWESOMMMEEEE

    1. Thanks for everything Mandy that was my best birthday ever!

  2. Lory, Happy Birthday to you!!!! You look absolutely amazing and what a beautiful family you have. Thank you so much for sharing your pictures. I truly enjoyed your birthday post!

  3. Thanks Brandi, my birthday was AWESOME!

Bar Stool Makeover

Hi all, this week I have another makeover. Last week's post was a chair makeover, this week it's bar stools. Here's a little history of how I acquired the bar stools. I have a friend named John who owns a thrift store. One day, while shopping in his store I purchased a beautiful 1920's sleigh bed. As I was leaving John informed me that he had a gift for me, since I purchased the bed. My response was, "for little ole me". As he scurried to the back of the store I WAS SO EXCITED and I couldn't wait to see what the gift was. When I saw the bar stools I was SPEECHLESS!!!!!! They were WICKED NASTY! But how could I resist them, they were a gift with purchase (free). And besides they had  great potential. I brought the stools home and got busy. First, they had to be disassembled. Next, I scrubbed and scrubbed and scrubbed, so much so I was dizzE (dizzy). lol! I was in such a state of shock, I forgot to take a picture of the seat cushions. Trust me, you don't …

This too shall pass

Hi everyone,

It has been quite some time since my last post. Two years and four months to be exact, but who's counting. I am posting today to encourage/motivate you. Things are changing so rapidly in our society, and the coronavirus pandemic has most of us on edge. Some of us have never experienced anything of this magnitude, and the thought of illness, losing our jobs/everything we have worked for, and being isolated from family and friends can be quite scary, but be encouraged.

My prayer is that all will be well with you and yours. And that you will be intentional and live on purpose in the days and weeks ahead. Rest assured that this, too, shall pass!

Stuck inside, My Master Bedroom Makeover

Hello everyone,

As I write this post, I am seated at my desk, looking out the window. The view is fantastic because I have the best apartment in the complex, in my opinion! Every day I get to look out at the picturesque panoramic views of the golf course. But, the best part is watching the sun dance on the rippling water in the pond and the ducks taking their daily stroll.

Today, like most, the workers are busy readying the facility in anticipation of the course reopening. They are preparing for the once steady stream of golfers who frequented the trail, before social distancing.

I love this quote by Benjamin Franklin
"Don't put off until tomorrow what you can do today.
I couldn't agree with him more.

I said all of that to say, it's time to put it in high gear. Instead of being bored, aggravated, complacent, and down-right mad, I choose to make the most of an unpleasant situation.

Today's post is all about getting things done now, and the steps I am taking to make i…
